Many people come to
acupuncture for help with specific symptoms or to relieve specific
pains like osteoarthritis of the knee, tension headaches, or nausea
& vomiting during pregnancy. A substantial amount of research has
now been conducted on the effectiveness of acupuncture covering many of the common issues
that people have. Some use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but have no
obvious diagnosis. Others choose acupuncture simply to enhance their
feeling of wellbeing. Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages
including the elderly, babies and children. It can be used effectively
alongside conventional medicine. If you are considering treatment for infertility or IVF see my special research report.

Case Study: Knee pain Peter had suffered from
painful knees for a number of years and had recently been diagnosed
with osteoarthritis. 'Every
morning my knees were stiff and sore, it took me ages to get out of bed
and get moving, I was always in pain. I picked up a leaflet in the
surgery and went along for treatment. After five sessions I was pain
free and more mobile. I now visit the acupuncturist once every six
weeks to keep things OK'. |

Case study: Headaches John decided to try
acupuncture treatment for his tension headaches. 'I had been under a lot of
strain recently with work pressures. The headaches started as very mild
attacks every few weeks but became rapidly worse until I was suffering
from them every day, nothing seemed to shift them'. John
had heard from a friend that acupuncture could help with headaches and
decided to give it a try. 'It
was magic, but it took four sessions before I was free of them. An
added bonus was that I ended up feeling much more relaxed generally and
had a greater sense of wellbeing'.
